My Last Class

Today in class a few students (including me) showed our webquests to the class. I finished my webquest over the weekend and presented today. It went well, so now I am finished with this class. I learned so many new things that will help with my future classroom.

4-23-09 Class

In this class we worked on our webquests and decided a due date for it. The date chosen was Thursday April 30, 2009.

Finish Up

Tuesday in class everyone finished up their jeopardy and millionaire presentations. Then we talked about topics for our webquest project. I have no clue what my topic is going to be and when I'm going to have time to do it.

Calendar

Today in class we created a caledar page on our site. Also I finally got my calendar to embed on my blog. Then we created another page on our site for our podcast lesson plan. We also added events to our calendar. We are not meeting for the next three classes. Our assignment is to finish our two gameshow powerpoints.

Today in class we created a dashboard on our website that we created on Tuesday. We also created an online calendar. I couldn't embed it to my blog.

Multi modal learning

Today, I got caught up on what I missed in last class. Then after getting caught up we started with todays project which is/was Multi modal learning. After talking about multi modal learning, we created a website and added things to it and created another page. Then we attached files to the page we created. ISTE standards would include standard 1 Facilitate and Inspire student learning and creativity. Standard 2 Design and develop digital-age learning experiences and assessments. Standard 3 Model digital-age work and learning.

Power Point

Today in class we talked about PowerPoint and file types. PowerPoint in windows 97-03 was saved as PPT and with the current version is saved as PPTx. PowerPoints can be saved as many different types of files, including a website (HTM). I had a few minutes to find a powerpoint that I would use in my future class, so I chose a presentation about the planets. ISTE standards for this would be standard 1 and standard 2. Standard 1 is Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity and Standard 2 is Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments.

Podcast

Today I recorded my podcast of my weather lesson. I really liked this and hope to use it in my future classroom. The ISTE standards that would go along with this would be standard 1-Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity and standard 2-Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments.

First Lesson Plan

This is only the second lesson plan that I have written so far in any of my classes. I still don't know if things are right or wrong, but if anyone uses it I'm sure they will make appropriate changes. Hope you find it useful.

IEP Graphic

Today in class we made another graphic using Kid's Zone, that deals with students on an IEP in WV, AR, MS, and UT. The ISTE standards are 1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creavitity and 2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments.

Today in class we created a bar graph using the Kid's Zone website. I found it easy to use this website. The ISTE NETS for this would include Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity and Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experience and Assessments. My graph has the National scores and WV scores from 2000-2007. Hope you find my graph interesting.

Today we were to create a graphic that we would be able to use in the classroom. I chose the Solar System. I copied a picture from google and saved it to my desktop. I opened it with paint to edit it, because I know how to use paint and knew what I needed to do. Paint was good because it was quick and easy to use. When I double click the graphic opens into Windows picture and fax viewer. My graphic is a JPEG image that is 34.7 KB. My graphic can be used as a quiz in Science class. Making graphics like this will be something that I would do for quizes in whatever subjects/lessons I can find pictures for. INTASC principle 3 and principle 4 would go along with using graphics. The ISTE would be the second one which is Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments.

Dale's Cone of Experience

After reading the article I answered the following questions:

1. Describe what Dale's Cone of Experience is? It is the way people learn and remember things.
2. Is Dale's Cone of Experience logical? Factual? Its more logical than factual because people learn differently and not all experience learning in the same types of processes.
3. How does Dale's Cone of Experience comport with current research on teaching and learning in the assigned reading. After reading, comment on your opinion of the validity of Dale's Cone of Experience. More people do learn better when they can hear and do something rather than just see our hear what they are learning. I believe that Dale's Cone of Experience is pretty accurate, but not all people will learn and retain information the way his cone shows.

PhotoStory Project

So I definitely forgot that we were suppose to post our photo story until yesterday. But anyway this was the first time I had ever seen this software. Now that I have used it I love it. I thought it was easy and fun to use. Before I posted it to YouTube, I had a song from my media player's library, but when I uploaded the video YouTube told me that I couldn't use that song. So now that I had to pick a different song, I don't think it is as good as it was, the song made a difference. But there isn't much I can do about that, so I'm happy with the way it turned out.
